American Consumer Opinion (ACOP) is a paid survey platform similar to loads of other survey platforms out there.
The name of the company is a little deceptive, because it’s not just open to Americans, but just about everybody right across the globe can take surveys on ACOP.
Although doing surveys is the primary task on this website, you can also test products as well, getting some freebies in the process.
Why do platforms like American Consumer Opinion exist? Because platforms like these make life much easier for companies needing participants in market research.
Surveys are a great way for businesses, governments and so on to collect data for all manner of purposes, such as product improvement as one example. Now instead of these establishments trying to find participants themselves, it’s far quicker and easier to team up with a survey platform that’s already loaded with members willing to fill out surveys for rewards.
It’s really a win-win situation for everyone. Now you won’t make much money, but surveys are super easy to do and you can do them in your spare time online from home. The companies pay American Consumer Opinion and they share a portion of that with the survey takers.

While doing paid surveys can make you some pocket money, it’ll never amount to much and they chew up a lot of time.

How American Consumer Opinion Really Works
Joining ACOP is completely free, so nothing to worry about there. It’s simply a matter of creating an account and getting started.
You need to be a minimum of 14 years of age, and all you need to do to start is input your email and a few other details to get an account. After that you’ll be required to answer some profile questions so the platform can learn more about you and your interests.
This part is important. Don’t neglect to do it, because the more thorough you are, the more surveys they can match you up with and the more money you’ll make in quicker time.
Some of the details will be about income, family members, your location, education and so on.
ACOP is a reputable company, so don’t worry about security or privacy. They don’t sell your details to marketers or anything.
You can’t just jump on the platform and click on some available surveys. American Consumer Opinion doesn’t work that way. You need to wait for them to email you survey invitations.
Ways To Earn On ACOP
There are 4 ways to earn rewards on American Consumer Opinion, and they are:

Surveys – The average regular survey will be anywhere from 10 minutes to 20 minutes to complete. These can earn you 50 points up to 500 points per survey, with the rewards increasing for longer surveys. There are also some really short and sweet surveys too. They only take a few minutes of your time and earn anywhere from 5 to 50 points.
Product Testing – These gigs are not that common, but if you happen to land one, you get to test and review physical products. Often you will get to keep the product, as well as potentially earn from $50 up to $200.
Reviewing Ads – With this one you watch video ads and appraise banner ads and offer your feedback on them.
How Much Money Can You Make?
This is what we all really want to know, but I can tell you that you won’t make much money.
Every rewards point that you earn is worth one cent, so you need to earn 100 points to make $1.
So working on that, you could earn anywhere from 50 cents to $5 for longer survey, and 5 cents to 50 cents for the really short surveys.
Obviously product testing pays a lot more, plus you often get to keep the product, but these opportunities are very rare.
I’m not too sure how much you earn for reviewing ads, but I doubt it’s very much.

Getting Paid
Before you can get a cash out from ACOP, your account first needs to reach the minimum threshold of $10, which is pretty reasonable.
One thing I like about this site is there are 5 options to get paid, and you get paid in real money.

The sweepstakes option where you can win prizes is only available to USA residents.
The American Consumer Opinion Referral Program
Just about every survey site will have some sort of referral program, where you receive incentives to entice other people to join the program. What American Consumer Opinion are offering is a $1 bonus for every person you refer who completes the account set up process.
It’s not particularly lucrative, because there are no recurring commissions based on the earnings of your recruits, just the $1 bonus. Plus, the affiliate program is only open to residents of the USA, Canada, Germany, the UK and France.
The Downside To Paid Surveys
The most common complaint and negative about doing paid surveys for income is the low rates of pay. ACOP isn’t too bad, where you can potentially earn up to $5 for a longer survey, but it’s still a low rate of pay overall, because most surveys won’t pay anything like that amount.
You also have to pass screening questions for each survey you accept, and many times you’ll get screened out. You don’t get paid for the time you spend on these questions.
Surveys can also suffer from technical errors part way through, meaning you can’t complete them. Again, you don’t get compensated for an incomplete survey.
Also added to this list is the fact that the amount of surveys you get is sporadic. It can take a while to reach a payment threshold because surveys can be too few and far between.
There are reports of it taking months to get paid lately by ACOP.
Target Market
Surveys I think are suited to people who haven’t made any money online before and are looking for a simple and very easy way to make their first few dollars. And surveys are good for that.
They’re not a long-term money making plan though, because you simply spend way too much time doing them for the amount you get paid.

- The sweepstakes is only available to USA residents
- Surveys are a poor exchange for your time
- Doing surveys gets really tedious and boring
- Few survey opportunities
- Only one member per household (IP Address) is allowed to join
- Lots of complaints online about waiting months to get paid
How Much Does American Consumer Opinion Cost To Join?
It doesn’t cost anything to join American Consumer Opinion. You wouldn’t want to pay either, as they don’t pay enough.
If you ever do come across a survey site that wants a joining fee, it’s most likely a scam.
Is American Consumer Opinion a Scam Or Legit?
ACOP is not a scam whatsoever. It’s a company that’s been around for a long time and has maintained a very high and positive reputation.
In some ways it’s a little better than other survey sites. The pay rates are a tad higher, plus you might get to test some products, which pays well and often means you get a free product into the bargain.
There are a lot of complaints online about it taking forever to receive a payout once requested, so that's a little concerning, as they don't pay much as it is. It sounds like it's more of a recent issue, judging by some negative reviews I've read.
Surveys are okay for a while to get started earning money online, but I wouldn’t do them for too long, if you want to make some real money.
Make Some REAL Passive Income Online!
The American Consumer Opinion platform is not bad and okay for making some small change, but there are much better ways to make some money, money that’s actually useful.
Even if you just want to make some part-time cash in your spare time, doing what I do will more than cover that.
