Panel Opinion is a paid survey platform that’s based in the United Kingdom and has been going strong for around 11 years now. It looks like a pretty good site, but its major drawback is it’s only open to UK residents.
So why are there so many paid survey sites these days? Why do they exist?
Businesses, companies, government departments and so on need data. They collect this valuable data through market research. This helps them improve things like:
- Customer service
- Create new products that meet the demand
- Improve on existing products and services
- Create more effective advertising campaigns
- And more…
Surveys are one of the very best ways to collect data from a certain demographic of people. For most business it’s not easy to go out a find enough people to complete these surveys, so they team up with platforms like Panel Opinion to handle it all for them.
Panel Opinion specialises in matching up company surveys with relevant members in their database. It’s a win-win situation for everyone, because members gets compensated for taking the time to answer the survey questions.

How Does Panel Opinion Really Work?
To get started, the very first thing you need to do is create a free account. It’s pretty easy, and so long as you’re a resident of the United Kingdom you’ll be good to go.
Once you’ve created your account you’ll be presented with a questionnaire to complete. It’s very important that you do this step and do it thoroughly, because it’s the answers to these questions that Panel Opinion will use to match you up with relevant surveys.
The more thorough you are, the more surveys you’re likely to receive.
After finishing this step, your account will automatically be credited with 20 pence to get you started.
Now it’s time to wait to be invited to complete surveys. These will be sent to your email inbox at the email address you used when signing up.
How To Earn Rewards Points
The main way to earn rewards on Panel Opinion is obviously by completing surveys. According to my research, the average survey will take anywhere from 10 to 20 minutes to complete. Of course, this also depends on how fast you read and answer the questions too.
Another way to earn small rewards is to be a regular on the platform and take the Daily Mini Poll. It’ll only earn you 2 pence, but takes just seconds to answer a simple poll question. It’s just a way to keep members coming back every day. You can only participate in the Mini Poll once a day.
The Panel Opinion Referral Program
Most survey platforms will have some form of referral program where they entice members to recommend their site to others. Panel Opinion has one as well.
There’s no cash reward when you refer new members though. What they do promise is an increase in the number of surveys you’ll receive, as well as entering you into the weekly lucky draw for a chance to win a £10 voucher.
It’s not as good as getting a cash bonus or receiving a percentage of your referral’s earnings, but it’s still something.

How Much Money Will You Make?
This is what it’s all about. How much money can you really make?
A short survey, one that takes around 10 minutes to complete, will generally earn you £1. The longer surveys, the 20 minute ones, pay £2.
So if you could do surveys on Panel Opinion for an hour, you would make yourself £6.
That’s not actually too bad for paid surveys. I’ve seen (and experienced first hand) a lot worse.
Along with the surveys you can slowly build up your cash account by take the Daily Mini Poll, or by referring other people.
There is also a monthly VIP prize draw where you have a chance to win £250.
How Do You Get Paid?
Before you can request a cash out, your account must first reach the minimum amount of £10, which is quite standard and reasonable.
You have 3 options for receiving your money:
- PayPal
- Bank Cheque
- BACS
A Few Negatives About Paid Surveys
I mentioned earlier that I used to do quite a few surveys on various survey platforms. I don’t bother now because of the very low pay rates. It’s just not worth it to me anymore.
In fact, the paying of peanuts for your time doing surveys is by far and away the biggest and most common complaint about this way of making money online. None of them pay well, that’s just a fact.
Your time is valuable and so is mine, so if making money is the goal, then surveys will never be the answer.
Nearly all surveys commence with a series of questions to see if you’re the right person they’re looking for to do the survey. On some platforms it can be notoriously hard to get past this screening stage.
You end up wasting a lot of time by getting screened out, time that you don’t get paid for. And some surveys seem to ask a LOT of screening questions.
Surveys are also prone to suffer from errors. It doesn’t happen often, but often enough to be annoying. When a survey glitches out you can’t finish it, and you don’t get paid anything for incomplete surveys.
This is also a very common complaint, that you just don’t get given enough surveys so you can reach the payout threshold more quickly. In some cases it can take months, which is a long time to wait to get paid.
Target Market
As surveys can be a pretty good way to break the ice and make your first dollars online, I believe they’re mostly aimed at newbies. They’re certainly not something you want to focus on long-term if making decent money is the goal.
Surveys are dead easy, you can do them in your own time, and you don’t need any sort of experience. Anyone can do them.
The downside with Panel Opinion is you actually have to be a UK resident to participate on the platform. It’s not a global opportunity like some other survey sites.

- You must be at least 15 years old to participate
- Surveys still pay very low for your time
- There are complaints about not getting enough surveys to do

There is absolutely nothing to pay to join Panel Opinion. It’s totally free.
Any survey site that wants to charge you some sort of joining fee is very likely a scam, so if you ever come across one…RUN!
Is Panel Opinion a Scam or Legit?
Panel Opinion is totally legitimate and not a scam in any way whatsoever. The company has been going strong for about 11 years and is well respected.
There are some downsides, the first being that it’s only open to UK residents. Also, while they pay a little better than some others, the pay rates are still low, and survey are not sent to your inbox often enough.
Overall though, as far as paid survey sites go, Panel Opinion is definitely one of the better ones I’ve come across in all my years of paid survey experience.
