Intro

Paid survey platforms seem to be popping up like mushrooms all across the internet these days. Along with rewards sites, survey platforms are everywhere. Because I kept seeing mentions of Zap Surveys and it was a platform I hadn’t tried before, I decided to check it out and write a review.

I’m really glad to see you here reading my review. It’s always a wise idea to research things first before joining. This helps you avoid scams or anything that’s just a plain waste of time. Time is even more valuable than money, because we can never get it back.

This website is dedicated to helping people find ways to make money from home on the internet. I write a lot of reviews of make money platforms as well as training programs. The idea is to help people find the good stuff while avoiding the bad.

Let’s see how Zap Surveys rates overall.

What Is Zap Surveys?

Earn a guaranteed $6 on your very first survey, is the promise of Zap Surveys.

In my experience earning $6 for one survey is pretty generous when it comes to paid survey platforms. I’ve been a member of quite a few over the years, and the majority of surveys would be lucky to pay $2 let alone $6.

The idea of doing paid surveys isn’t just so people like you and I can earn a few bucks. Companies all over the world need the vital information that surveys provide. It helps them deliver better products and services that are targeted at the right groups of people.

Platforms like Zap Surveys act as the portal for these companies and those that want to participate in online paid surveys.

Your opinion matters and some surveys can even be fun, depending on the layout and the topic.

One thing that’s a little different with this platform compared to others I’ve been a part of or have reviewed in the past is they have a charitable arm.

For every single survey that gets completed on their platform, Zap Surveys donates money to help prevent global child starvation.

There are a lot of survey platforms out there, such as Toluna and Opinion World, but this is the first time I’ve seen one that donates to a charity. There might be more, but I’ve never come across it before.

While you might make small amounts of money with this, there are far more profitable ways to earn online. Click here to learn what I do to make more than a fulltime income on the internet.

What Is Zap Surveys

How Does Zap Surveys Work?

Anyway, what you really want to know is how this platform works and whether you’ll make much money with it.

Rather than being website based, this survey platform uses apps for both Apple and Android users. They are really targeting the mobile market.

So, in order to get started you must first download the appropriate app onto your smartphone or tablet.

The app looks pretty decent and has a very modern and easy to navigate design. Before you can officially get started and earning with paid surveys though, you must first create an account either by using your email and a password, or by signing in with your Facebook account.

Now you’ll be prompted to fill in some basic profile features and provide answers to a few key questions.

It’s important that you’re thorough with this part of the process, as you’ll receive more survey invitations that way.

Now you can dig in.

Your first survey completed will net you a cool $6.25 or more, because of the bonus $6 you receive when you first get started. That’s pretty good.

Ways To Earn

There are a number of ways to earn on the app, although some are rather similar. Let’s briefly take a look at them:

Tap Research

These ones are daily surveys and they pay the highest amount per survey on the app. Also, for each and every dollar a participant earns with Tap Research, Zap Surveys contributes 20 cents to charity.

The survey lengths and payments vary, but before you get started on a survey, there will be an approximate time length to do the survey and the amount it pays.

Strangely, Zap Surveys lists the amount in cents rather than dollars, which I haven’t see before. So instead of a 10 minute survey stating you’ll earn $2.50, it’ll be 250 cents.

It doesn’t really mean anything in the overall scheme of things, but it’s just kind of weird.

Many of the questions seem more about demographics than anything else.

Peanut Labs

This app is also hooked in with another popular survey platform called Peanut Labs, a platform that in my opinion really does pay peanuts.

Once again there are surveys you can complete daily, and again a small donation is made to charity when you complete a Peanut Labs survey on the Zap Surveys app.

As an example of just how low Peanut Labs pays, a 10 minute survey might only pay you some 30 cents or so. If you did 6 of these in an hour you’d only make $1.80.

That is peanuts.

Location Rewards

These types of rewards are spontaneous, and how it works is that you need to allow the app to track your location. There are rewards to be earned at many major retailers and food outlets.

Let’s say a retailer in your current location is running a promotion. You’ll receive a notification from the app telling you about it. All you have to do is open the notification and your account will be credited with 25 cents.

The idea is that people might see these promotions and go and take advantage of them. So you might earn 25 cents and get a good deal in the process.

Login Streak

How this works is that you’ll be rewarded with 75 cents if you log into the app for 45 straight days. They want to encourage people to use the app, and while it’s not much cash, it’s also something I haven’t seen offered before.

Pick and Win

This is a daily challenge that works like a raffle. Pick the right numbers and you will win the daily cash prize. Every day you get one ticket in the draw and there are 20 winners daily, who each receive a share of the prize pool, which is only $7.50.

Refer Others

Whether it’s via your own website or social media platforms such as Facebook, for every new person you refer to Zap Surveys you’ll earn 15 cents. Not much at all, but could add up if you referred enough people.

How Much Can You Earn?

The short answer is – not much.

Surveys are notoriously low paying ways to make some money, but at the same time they’re not hard to do.

The amount you can earn for surveys really varies from company to company and how long the survey is. There are a few other small ways to earn on the app as well, but again these don’t amount to much.

If you were just focusing on earning through surveys, I’d say you’d be lucky to make a few dollars an hour.

How and When Do You Get Paid?

So how and when do you get paid?

As far as how you get paid out, there are several options:

  • PayPal
  • Amazon eGift Card

So you can either get real money, or spend up on the Amazon platform with your gift card.

Before you can cash out, your account balance has to reach the minimum payout level of $25, which seriously could take a while.

Payouts won’t be instant either. It could take a week or so to process the cash out.

The Downside To Paid Surveys

We’ve already mentioned the main downside to paid surveys, and that is how little they pay you for your valuable time. I mean, a few dollars an hour just doesn’t really cut it in my book, but I guess it’s an okay way to make a bit of extra coin in your spare time.

Another thing you’ll regularly find with surveys is that you’ll answer the qualifying questions, only to find yourself screened out of the actual paying part of the survey.

Some companies take advantage of these qualifying questions to get free data, and actually ask quite a lot of questions during the screening process.

Surveys sometimes glitch out too, part way through, meaning you’ve just wasted your time answering those questions before the glitch happened. You don’t usually get to take the same survey over again.

Target Audience

Paid surveys like the Zap Surveys app are aimed at anyone who wants to make a little extra cash on the side in their own time. If the goal is to make some serious money, then surveys really aren’t the way to do it.

What I Like

  • There are a number of ways you can earn with this app
  • I like the way some money is also donated to charities
  • You earn a sign up bonus of $6 on your very first survey
  • The app is very easy to navigate around
  • You can get real cash with PayPal

What I Don’t Like and Red Flags

  • You really won’t earn much at all with this app
  • Surveys are not a good exchange of time for dollars (or cents in this case)
  • The payout threshold is set quite high at $25
  • There are only 2 payment options
  • The same qualifying questions each time you do a survey can get really tedious and boring
  • The website has no FAQ
  • You likely won’t get a lot of surveys to do

How Much Does Zap Surveys Cost To Join?

It’s completely free to download the app and join Zap Surveys. In fact, they technically even pay you to join with their bonus $6 on sign up.

Is Zap Surveys a Scam Or Legit?

I don’t see any scam going on here. The downside is really the very small amounts of cash you’ll earn in exchange for decent chunks of your time.

It’s pretty much the same with all surveys platforms, rewards sites and the like. Even if you could do surveys fulltime, you still wouldn’t make much, and certainly not a liveable wage. Not even close.

If the goal is to earn decent cash, then Zap Surveys isn’t it. Read below instead for something far better.
