~ Pinecone Research Surveys Reviews ~
Because of the internet and the fact that it’s global, we can all make a living from home and make money day and night. It’s what I’ve been doing for years now and so do many millions of others.
Every day more and more people are turning their attention to the internet to find part-time and fulltime options and opportunities to make some cash. The downside is all the scammers know this as well and they create schemes to fully capitalise. We always have to remain wary and do our research online.
Product reviews have proven to be one of the very best ways to discover which schemes and training platforms are scams, and which ones are worth getting involved in. It’s the whole reason I write so many reviews, and one of the main reasons I built this site in the first place.
As I’ve been a member of a number of survey platforms in the past, when I came across Pinecone Research I thought it looked like a good one to research and write a review on.
Let’s now see if Pinecone Research Surveys is really worth joining or not.

What Is Pinecone Research Surveys About?
Pinecone Research has been around for a while now and is owned and operated by AC Nielsen. They promote their platform as a great way for ordinary, everyday people to earn a good online income.
These days there are so many paid survey platforms around they are almost as common as network marketing schemes.
So why are there so many?
Just about all businesses and companies, government departments and everything in between need data and market research for things like:
- Better decision making
- Product and service improvement
- Creating new products lines
- Improving their advertising spend
- And so on…
Conducting surveys of the right demographic of people is one of the best and simplest ways to collect this much needed data. Now rather than try and find enough survey participants themselves, these companies team up with survey platforms to handle it.
Companies like Pinecone Research already have loads of ready and eager survey takers on their platform, so it’s a win-win situation for everybody.
Not only can you do regular surveys on the Pinecone Research platform, but they also offer the opportunity to do some product testing (mostly household products) and write reviews on these as well.
While surveys can be an okay way to get started making a bit of cash online, I much prefer what I do, which is affiliate marketing. As an affiliate you make REAL dollars and not just spare change.
It’s very easy to get started when you follow the training I did. You can even get started for FREE!
How Does Pinecone Research Surveys Really Work?
Pinecone Research is a little different to some other survey panels, as in you can’t just arrive on the site and join. You actually have to be invited or sign up through a referral link. You also have to be aged at least 18 as well.
It’s also not a worldwide opportunity, as only residents of the USA, Canada, the UK and France are eligible to join.
When you do find a referral link to join through, creating your account is totally free. Once that’s done you’ll be asked a series of profile questions.
It’s very important you answer these, as Pinecone Research use this information to match you up with relevant surveys and product testing opportunities. The more information you give them, the more surveys you are likely to receive.
They also use this information to determine whether you qualify as a Pinecone Research panellist at this time or not. If you do qualify, you’ll start to receive some surveys.
Earning Rewards Points
Like most other survey sites, you’ll earn rewards points every time you successfully complete a survey on the Pinecone platform.
From my research the surveys can span anywhere from 15 minutes and up to 30 minutes to complete. Some may be shorter while others might be longer, but that seems to be the average length of time.
I mentioned that you can also earn rewards by testing (mostly household) products. You get to keep the product and also earn rewards points for offering your opinion on the product.
It’s best to be honest with these reviews. Don’t just say the product is awesome if it’s not. They want real feedback to improve the products.
How Much Money Will You Make?
Okay. This is what it’s all about. How much can you make?
As I said, you earn rewards points. 100 rewards points equals $1. The average survey is worth between 300 to 500 points, so $3 to $5.
That’s not too bad as far as surveys go. Especially if you could make $5 for a 15 minute survey. That’d be $20 an hour if that’s the case. $10 an hour might be closer to the truth, and even then that would probably be at the high end.
But still, a better rate than most other paid survey platforms pay.
You will receive surveys by email. Don’t wait to long to accept them and do them, or they’ll fill the quota and you’ll miss out.
Product testing earns you $6 per test and subsequent review of the product.
How Do You Get Paid?
One thing I really like about Pinecone Research is they pay both either cash or gift cards. There’s also no payout threshold to reach to get paid either. You can redeem points at any time.
Here are the payment options:
- Gift Cards
Some Negatives About Paid Surveys
A number of years back I signed up for a whole bunch of paid survey sites and was doing a lot of surveys every day, so I know them really well. At the end of it all I’d put in many hours for very little reward.
That’s the biggest downside to surveys and one of the most common complaints.
No matter what platform you’re on, they just pay very poorly compared to the time you spend doing them.
Another annoying thing many don’t like about the surveys is the screening questions you get asked at the start of each survey. These are necessary to make sure you fit the demographic they’re after, but when you regularly get screened out, you’ve just wasted your time.
Some companies I’m sure take advantage of these qualifying questions too by asking loads of them. They get free data by screening most people out.
I can’t prove some businesses collecting data do this, but I’m sure it’s the case some of the time.
The good thing about Pinecone Research is if you’re selected for their platform, you don’t have to answer screening questions as you’re already considered pre-qualified.
At times you’ll be well into a survey and it encounters an error. You can’t continue and you don’t get paid because you didn’t finish it.
Unless you’re a member of numerous survey sites, you just won’t have that many surveys to do most of the time. With each platform having a minimum payout threshold (except for Pinecone), this can lead to it taking an eternity to actually get some cash or gift cards in your hands.
Pinecone Research and other survey platforms often advertise their services as being a great way to make an online income. Yes, technically you can, but it’s not much of one. It’s pocket money at best. Surveys are about making some spare change in your spare time.
If you are looking to make some real cash that’s useful, then you just won’t make it by doing surveys. Not unless you join heaps of platforms and spend copious amounts of time doing surveys.
It’s still a very poor exchange of time for money though.
What I think paid surveys are good for is for people wanting their very first taste of online income so they know it’s possible.
What I Do Like
- Pinecone Research is run by AC Nielsen, a highly respected market research company for many years
- There is no minimum threshold you need to reach to request a cash out, which is very rare in the paid survey world
- You can get paid in real cash as well as a selection of popular gift cards
- The surveys are of a high quality
- The Pinecone platform is well laid out and very easy to navigate
- You can do surveys as well as test products for more variety
- The rates of pay are a little better than some competing survey platforms
- There are no qualifying questions
What I Don’t Like and Red Flags
- It’s only available to residents from the USA, Canada, the UK and France at the time of this writing
- There are complaints of not enough surveys
- You can’t just randomly join Pinecone Research like you can with most other survey sites. You have to join through an invite link
- You won’t make much money spending your time doing surveys or product testing, but better than some other sites
- Pinecone Research requires its participants to be 18 years old or over
How Much Does It Cost To Join Pinecone Research Surveys?
It doesn’t cost anything to join Pinecone Research Surveys as a survey panellist and product tester. You can’t just go to the site and join though. It has to be through a current member’s referral link or by invitation.
Is Pinecone Research a Scam or Legit?
There’s no scam here. Apparently it can be hard to get into as a panellist, but once you’re in, it appears you earn a bit more for your time and surveys are semi-regular, although still not often enough to make consistent income.
They may pay a little higher than the competition, but you won’t be quitting your day job by joining, despite Pinecone Research talking it up like it’s some work from home career or something.
If you want to make some real money online from home, there are much better ways.

Doing surveys is okay at best. I used to do a fair few. The problem is always the same though. They just don’t pay very much.
These days I don’t bother with surveys and focus my attention on affiliate marketing, which actually pulls in a fulltime income without fulltime hours.
Being an affiliate is really simple. It’s like being a rep for other companies. There’s no buying and selling of products. Just promote, recommend and earn commissions. It’s pretty basic, but can be very lucrative.
